Abstract

Within the framework of the tireless quest to understand the depths of ancient literary texts, this study stands out as a serious attempt to analyze the commentary of Labid bin Rabiah Al-Amiri, from the perspective of pragmatic linguistics, in an effort to uncover the hidden connotations and contextual meanings it contains.

This is done by adopting the deliberative approach to analysis, which allows us to focus on the speech acts and the cultural and social context of the text, with the aim of providing an in-depth critical reading of the text, revealing the hidden connotations and contextual meanings.

Based on the theoretical foundations of pragmatic linguistics, in this study we will address the theoretical concepts of speech acts and context, and we will apply these concepts to the Mu’allaqah of Labid ibn Rabi’ah, with the aim of analyzing the hidden connotations and contextual meanings in the text, which allows us to provide a deeper insight into the linguistic structure and the meanings inherent in the Mu’allaqah.

The study includes theoretical and applied investigations.

The theoretical sections will address the theoretical concepts of pragmatic linguistics.

Applied investigations will apply these concepts to Labid bin Rabia’s hanging, with the aim of revealing the hidden connotations and contextual meanings in the text, and highlighting the importance of pragmatic linguistics in understanding ancient literary texts.

Through the analysis, we hope to provide a qualitative addition to the field of literary studies, by revealing the hidden connotations and contextual meanings in Labid bin Rabi’a’s commentary, and providing a deeper insight into the linguistic structure and latent meanings of the commentary.
