This study explores the theme of “Epistemological Integration between Arabic Linguistic Sciences and Islamic Shari'ah Sciences in Tafsir: Al-Wahidi’s Al-Basit as a Model.” It aims to analyze the concept of integration between these fields within the realm of Quranic interpretation, through an in-depth examination of Imam Al-Wahidi’s exegesis Al-Basit, which stands as a rich classical example where linguistic and Islamic disciplines converge.
The central research question focuses on how Al-Wahidi employed linguistic sciences—such as grammar, rhetoric, and semantics—alongside the principles of Islamic jurisprudence and Qur’anic recitations, to construct his exegetical methodology. It also investigates the extent to which this integrative approach is reflected in his interpretation of Qur’anic verses.
The study adopts a comparative, analytical, and inductive methodology, by identifying and analyzing textual instances in which Al-Wahidi's interpretation demonstrates interdisciplinary integration. Practical examples are presented to illustrate the mechanisms of this synthesis.
The significance of the research lies in its contribution to highlighting the scholarly value of Al-Basit, and in providing a valuable reference for students and researchers in the field of Tafsir. The work showcases a methodological model that combines linguistic and Islamic tools in interpreting the Qur’an, offering insights that can inspire contemporary exegetical projects.
